New Year…New Services…

Although 2015 is here and we are so excited about everything we have coming up this year, I do not want to forget about all the blessings that 2014 brought us!  We at Irene Tyndale Events want to take the time to thank everyone who was a part of such a great year, and also to recap a little of all that happened.

In August of 2014, Shelby Conner was added to the team as an assistant and has since then been promoted to Day-of Coordinator and Social Media Content Manager.  With a degree in Business Management and a minor in English, Shelby has experience in social media and a lot of passion for weddings and events.  Just before the year was coming to a close, Avia Shelton joined the Irene Tyndale Team as an intern.  In addition to the growth of our event planning team, 2014 also brought many new exciting partnerships.  Robin Smith is now our Lead Floral Designer.  She holds quite the impressive resume from her time spent collaborating with some of the top names in the event design world in places like Los Angeles and New York.  We were also excited to bring on Abbria McWhite as our Wedding Stylist.  From fashion blogger to magazine editor, Abbria is a style expert who can guide any bride in any walk of life to her dream day.

Location, Location, Location… Part 1

Where do I start?

He got down on one knee and asked you to be his wife. You said “Yes” and the planning begins! Finding the perfect venue in Atlanta or Georgia for that matter can be overwhelming. Booking your ceremony & reception location is exciting and one of the most important steps in planning your wedding. It can also be the most stressful with so many styles & locations to choose from . Here are a five steps to take before you begin touring venues.

  1. Set a budget: Since your venue (ceremony/reception) will be the largest budgetary item on the list it is crucial that you sit down with your parents and discuss the budget. This will help you narrow down your choices.
  2. Create a guest list: Your guest list will be dictated by your budget and will assist you in choosing a venue that will fit the logics of your plans.
  3. Wedding style: Knowing your wedding style will help you plan and design the wedding details from start to finish. Are you classic, vintage, modern or rustic?
  4. Venue style/feel: Atlanta and the surrounding areas have a wide array of wedding venues, from picturesque outdoor options to historic homes to modern museums.
  5. Consider hiring a planner: Hiring a Wedding Planner, needn’t be a luxury-it can actually help you to save both time and money. Your planner will know the logistics of the venue, what catering companies they work with and offer up advice on what location will best fit your vision.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say wedding photos are priceless.  I recently sat down with amazing talented photographer Bri McDaniel.  We have worked with Bri on a couple of weddings and have a few more for 2014.  We are thrilled she took some time out to share a little about herself.  Read on for a little Q&A and see some of her beautiful work.

Tell me a little bit about you-I’m a self- proclaimed hopeless romantic. I love everything that has to do with love, and I have a huge passion for photography.  I take the time to get to know the couples that I work with and find out their story. I find that by doing this, it makes everyone more comfortable and relaxed on their wedding day. This in turn, results in wonderful, natural photographs of the bride and groom, who feel free to express their emotions and are not inhibited around the camera or me. It also allows me to find out more about a couple’s individual style and personality so that their images will reflect who they are.


How would you describe your signature style? My style focuses on real storytelling, and I like to think of myself as a romantic storyteller. I will document your day as it naturally unfolds with as little interference as possible, capturing every little moment and fully telling your story. My images are full of emotion and have a dramatic and dreamy feel to them. I aim to create art, and I’m really into making my couples and their love stories look epic. I love to really get to know the couples I work with so they can feel comfortable around me and be themselves. In turn I can create images that reflect their personalities, and who they are as a couple in love.

What is your favorite thing about weddings? My favorite thing about weddings is that everyone is always happy. Happiness in contagious and I always leave with my heart glowing.

What is one thing you like to tell your couples? I like to mention to my couples about “unplugged weddings”. This is when the guest don’t bring cameras or don’t use their phones during the ceremony. This is great for both the couple and guest because it allows everyone to really be in the moment. This is great for me as the wedding photographer, also because it eliminates distractions and allows me to capture the couples special day.

Do you have any suggestions for couples in search of a wedding photographer? My biggest advice for couples looking for a wedding photographer is to be sure that you feel 100% comfortable with the photographer you choose. It’s important that you vibe well with your photographer because that is the one person you will spend most of the wedding day with. You want to make sure you can be yourself and have fun around the person you choose. This will guarantee the most natural photos possible for your special day and photos that truly display who you are as a couple in love.


If you weren’t in the wedding industry, what would you like to do? If I wasn’t in the wedding industry, I would still pursue my passion for photography. I like to keep tabs on the fashion industry. I think it would be really fun to be a high fashion photographer in New York.

Tell us something we don’t know about you? I’m obsessed with Coldplay. Like obsessed. Over the years its calmed down a bit, but I’m pretty sure its about to ramp up again because they have a new album dropping this year. I’ve seen them live 4 times. Love love love them.

On February 15, 214 William and Sarah said “I Do” at the magnificent Callanwolde Fine Arts at the end of the second snowstorm of 2014 surrounded by their family & friends.   When I met Sarah & William in August 2013 they shared their vision for a winter wedding.  With the help of an amazing design team their vision was executed perfectly. 


How different was your original wedding vision from your actual wedding? My vision for the wedding actually was brought to life by amazing planning and a wonderful decorator!  Some things were actually much prettier.   I think it’s very important for a bride to know what she wants and know how to communicate that to her planner 🙂

What surprised you most about the planning process?  Probably the length of time it takes to get it “right”, to research options, and the countless little details you don’t even think about.

What surprised you the most about the wedding day?  Just how beautiful and emotional it was. Also how quickly the night flies by!  Enjoy it because it’s over too quickly!

Real Bride Chat-Post Wedding Reflections

On March 23, 2013 Nicole Ash & Jason Faulkenberry said “I Do” at the Doubletree Roswell surrounded 90 guest.  A lover of champagne and everything it stands for the couple wanted their weekend to be a celebration of their love.

How different was your original wedding vision from your actual wedding?
Fortunately, Jason and I had a long engagement (about 17 months). This gave us the time to not only plan in detail the things we wanted for our wedding day, but also the time to execute them and of course save the money we needed to budget them. With this being said, our wedding day went out without a hitch and it was everything we had imagined and more 🙂

What surprised you most about the planning process?
What surprised me most about wedding planning was basically ALL the stuff there is to plan for! From all the vendors, to the venue, to the dress, guest list.. the list in endless. It was pretty overwhelming especially because I live away from all of my family. There is NO way I could have done it without some assistance. I was surprised that I really needed an experienced professional to keep all the details straight for me, and to keep me on track with deadlines.

What surprised you the most about the wedding day?
What surprised me most about my wedding was how fast it flew by! It was a wonderful night and I enjoyed every minute of it, but it goes so fast! Luckily, I had a FANTASTIC wedding coordinator who kept track of all the wedding things that need to be done throughout the night (cake cutting, bouquet toss etc) so I was free to enjoy my time with my husband, family, and guests with the occasional interruption from my coordinator to get these tasks done.

What was your favorite moment of the wedding day?
My most favorite moment of my wedding day was the ceremony! While I was super nervous to have all those eyes on my when I walked in, it was amazing to see all my loved ones in one room there to celebrate with me. Of course while I had all those eyes on me, my eyes were focused on one thing… my groom looking back at me up at the Alter. I will never forget the moment I first saw his reaction to me decked out in the wedding dress. I looked at him the entire walk up the aisle. When I finally got up there, he whispered to me “You look awesome” Haha.

Finally, what is your best tip for future brides?
My tips for future brides would be to really take the time to decide on the things you want for your wedding day. Explore all your options because there are A LOT! Also, make sure you take some time to actually eat the food! With so many things going on, and so many people wanting your attention its easy to let dinner pass you by. But, its a long day and you need to eat, and you paid for it! Haha. Finally, I would definitely recommend having someone who KNOWS weddings on your side. There are so many behind the scenes details I wasnt even aware of let alone knew how to handle. Yes, you may have family who can help you plan, but on the actual wedding day it is so vital to have someone who isn’t a guest there to coordinate all of the many activities going on around you. As I said earlier, this leaves you free to enjoy your special day!

10 Tips to Kickstart your Wedding Plans 

1.  Announce your Engagement

We live in a socially connected world via media these days. So when major events in our lives happen our first impulse is to Facebook and Tweet.  Pick up the phone and call your close family then friends and tell them the great news.  They will be so excited to hear the story from you and not reading it online.

2.  Set a budget

Long are the days of tradition when the “Bride’s family paid for the wedding”.    It is common practice to see both sides paying for the big day.  Talking about money is never easy for either side, but get it out of the way early so that you can enjoy the Wedding Planning process.

3.  Create your guest list

Your guest list will be dictated by your budget and will assist you in choosing your venue and vendors.  When creating your guest list think about who in your lives you would want present on your Wedding Day.  Create a must invite list first with your closet family and friends.  These are the people that mean the most to you.  Cut guest that you haven’t spoken with in over a year, eliminate co-workers, second cousins, etc.  Everyone will want to be invited but not everyone is a VIP on this day.

4.  Choose your Bridal Party

Like your guest list choose your closet friends and family members to stand with you on your day.  Big isn’t always better, a small group will be easier to manage.  Find a fun creative way to invite everyone to be your wedding party.  Be open if someone declines your invitation due to finances or work schedules.  

5.  Choose 3 possible dates/time 

Choosing a wedding date is not easy there are so many factors to consider.   Ask yourselves the following:  what time of the year to you prefer, the weather, work/vacation schedules and holidays.  Then choose three dates in case your preferred dates are not available.

6.  What’s your wedding style?

Knowing your wedding style will help you plan and design the wedding details from start to finish.  There are so many styles to choose from classic, vintage, modern, rustic, etc. Once you figure out your style create a board on Pinterest to share with your wedding vendors.

7.  Consider a hiring a Wedding Planner

Hiring a Wedding & Event Planner, needn’t be a luxury-it can actually help you to save both time and money.  If nothing else, consider hiring one for the big day to organize vendors and other details while you get ready.  Wedding planners have other bonuses, such as getting you deals you wouldn’t get otherwise.

8.  Research & Interview {Ceremony, Reception Venues, Planners, Vendors}

Referrals are the best research you can do.  Talk to your friends who recently got married who they used. Read online reviews on Facebook, Yelp, local wedding planning sites and magazines.    Contact and make appointments with at least two vendors per  category to compare.

Catering if not provided by the venue






9.  Say Yes to the Dress!!

You have been working hard thus far grab your Mom and Bridesmaids and head over to the Bridal Salon and play.  You will say “Yes” to the dress that makes you feel your best.
