Atlanta Wedding Planner – Amy & Matt’s The Brickyard Wedding

We obviously love weddings. Each one unique in its own way. But we have a special place in our heart for a church wedding! First Presbyterian Church is full of classic southern architecture. The white paneling and pews are a fabulous contrast to the rich mahogany wood details. With a pop of coral paint, it is truly beautiful.

Amy opted for a full Satin ballgown Satin & Crystal embellishments and with button details on the back. She adorned herself with crystals and pearls.

Her bridesmaids wore cute aqua chiffon cocktail dresses and all of the ladies carried bouquets of white roses, green cymbidium orchids and hydrangea.

Amy and Matt have a little spunk to their relationship- so this red and white T-bird Ford fit Amy & Matt’s personalities to a T (no pun intended!)! This one actually belongs to Matt’s dad. An old classic car is a great getaway vehicle and makes for such a neat photo!

A father’s first-look at his daughter has just as much impact on me as a the groom’s first look.  A father seeing his little girl all grown up and beginning her journey as a wife is monumental. If you don’t opt for a first look with your groom, we highly recommend a first look photo with your father!

Amy’s father was actually one of the ceremony officiants! He did a wonderfully sentimental and romantic reading for the newlyweds after walking his little girl down the aisle.

After the ceremony and photos, the celebration continued at the Brickyard. The Brickyard is a great industrial chic venue- one of the many reasons we love working there is that it makes a great canvas for any decor. Dressed up or down, it looks great!

Guests dined on “breakfast for dinner” by Carriage House Catering and danced the night away thanks to Fonix Entertainment. And let’s not forget the dessert! Delectable dessert provided by Miss Mamie’s Bakery!

Atlanta Wedding Planner- Sarah & William, Callonwolde Fine Art Center

Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe Sarah & William’s wedding day!  The pure emotion behind a wedding day often takes my breathe away. And no matter how many ceremonies I see, i still get misty eyed thinking about. But my goodness- these two are such a picture perfect couple. So kind, caring and in-love!

I’m a sucker for a clean color pallet.  Sarah & William opted for a classic black and white with pops of silver- which was such a beautiful pairing in the Callonwolde Fine Art Center’s space. I adore this venue!  Between that fabulous grand staircase, crystal & fabric draped ceiling and perfectly placed lighting, it was hard to pick a favorite photo! All the decor elements flowed together effortlessly!

The amazing (and delicious) food was provided by Zest Catering. They did a fantastic job on the display- it was all so delectable! The rose petals made for such a soft touch with the mirrored displays too!

Journey to “I Do”- Will You?

bikeride-j

June 3rd Andrew & I were in Chattanooga riding bikes around the city, an activity I had been asking to do for quite a while. He wanted to take a trip to see his aunt and uncle close to the time we did the previous year, and I was just like “okay?”

We rode bikes, see the picture, I was so amused and excited I bought a selfie stick. Proceeded to eat lunch with Kevin and Debbie who suggested we go back to Point Park {A place we went on our first trip to Chattanooga and a special park to many members of Andrew’s family.} I quickly denied wanting to take the drive up there due to getting car sick very easily. After much contest on Andrews part, the boy who doesn’t like to argue, up we went.

willyou-jAfter a TWENTY minute walk through the park I was ready to go home, I was hot and had an ITE event to work that evening. Andrew insisted that we take a photo where we took a photo on our first trip, uh okay Andrew… He never likes taking pictures with me.

There we stood in the spot we previously had taken a picture, not even boyfriend and girlfriend at the time. We take the picture and I’m ready to walk away when BOOM Andrew starts to get down on one knee.

I personally remember saying “NO” to what was happening, but there it was. Andrew down on one knee, me crying at a moment I didn’t see coming. No one was around us, just Andrew’s aunt and uncle snapping photos. It was everything I wanted without realizing it.

Pinterest could have ruined June 3rd for me. I thought I wanted some long video proposal. It turns out I wanted just Andrew, telling me he loves me and will love and cherish me the rest of our lives.

Yes1-jLadies, guys are better at things than we give them credit for. Until next time, I leave you with a photo of our engagement.

Wedding Wednesday-Journey to “I Do”

Welcome to Wedding Wednesday, my name is Krystal!

Lane1I’m currently engaged to the wonderful Andrew Lane, and together we are planning a wedding on a tight budget. Don’t cringe too quickly; we’re going to have an amazing wedding. There are many reasons brides and grooms are frightened by the concept of a tight budget.

Over the next 7-ish months I invite you to follow Andrew and I’s journey to becoming husband and wife. Each week we will address different points of the wedding, what speed bumps we hit and what                                                                       we enjoy the most in this special time.

Lane2I was born in sunny Los Angeles, transplanted to Augusta, and currently live in the beautiful surrounding area of Atlanta. I recently graduated with my Bachelors in Public relations from Kennesaw State University. On top of trying to plan my wedding, I am a twenty three year old trying to figure out what I’m doing with my life. {I’m juggling a lot right now, but having Andrew makes it all so much better!} I work part time at a little consignment boutique in Smyrna, and assist Irene with a wide spread set of things.

Lane3Andrew was born in Rome, Georgia went to school in Alabama, and is currently a music teacher in Douglassville, Georgia. Every day Mr. Lane puts on a smile and teaches children kindergarten through fifth grade to love music, yes it’s very cute to watch. He enjoys doing things most guys do, he plays the bass at our church, is on two fantasy football teams, and likes to watch pretty much any sport.

More important than anything we enjoy doing as couple, we enjoy spending time together. Honestly, we both don’t make a lot of money right now, we date cheap. Before getting engaged Andrew and I spent numerous dates eating Costco hotdogs and walking the store imagining what we would own if we were married. Insert stores such as Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and Ikea and well you’ve just learned every store we love.

Being in love is hard, being engaged is harder. This season in our life we say is just awkward. I’m no longer just the girlfriend, but I’m also not his wife (which I am so excited to be). Living in limbo is weird, but it has taught me a lot about myself already, and we’ve only been engaged for three months.

I cannot promise this blog will be perfect on how to plan a wedding, but I do promise we’ll be honest with you. We’ve already knocked out our venue; we actually did that 6 days after getting engaged. But we still have a lot to do and a lot to decide/compromise on as a couple.

Next week I would like to talk to you about our engagement, what it’s like for girls to have expectations about rings and some grand engagement. The proposal is such a small step in the story you and your love one will tell, why get caught up in the hopes of having what you’ve seen on Facebook videos? Your story is unique, as your engagement should be.

Pinterest Pick of the Week: Daytime Send-Offs

Sparkler exits are great fun for the big send off—not to mention they make for some killer photos—but they don’t have quite the same effect when they sun is still out.  That’s why I have taken to the Pinterest boards to find you some equally awesome ideas for your daytime wedding!

Up first we have the “Ribbon Wand.”  These simple little decorates are a sweet and mess-free way to wish the bride and groom well on their way.  They add the perfect pop of color for pictures, bells can be attached for some jingle, and they can even double as personalized wedding favors!  We’ve attached an easy DIY tutorial to get you started.

Now this next one may not be the most practical, but it definitely plays to the kid in all of us…and once again, it makes for great pictures!  A balloon release; have the guests line up and let the balloons go as the couple passes by.  A rainbow of your wedding colors will linger in the sky as you drive away as husband and wife. You can even have the balloons filled with love quotes or secret notes of well wishes from your guests.

Rustic Wedding Chic-DIY Birdseed Pack

Our last pick for today is for all of you practical, eco-friendly brides out there.  And considering it is spring and all of our little feathered friends are out and about, I think tossing birdseed is a smart choice.  Choose a blend with some variety (for the birds) and for color.  Best part about this is, nobody gets stuck sweeping up confetti!

Don’t forget the Moms!

Moms hold a special place in all of our hearts.  Some are sweet, some are quiet, and some are crazy (in a good way of course)…every mom is unique. One thing, however, is consistent across the board—they all love their children with a kind of love that only a mother can.  They have sacrificed a lot for us over the years and they never expect anything in return.  That’s why giving our moms gifts can be so fulfilling!  I know that at least in my family, my mom is always the hardest to buy for.  It’s not because she is picky or expensive, but because she only wants what she “needs.”  And she is very rarely “needing” anything around the time of major holidays.  This predicament often gives way to some of the most creative—and thoughtful—gift giving of all!

With Mother’s Day this past weekend, we are talking about wedding day gifts for Mom.  Here are some things to remember when picking out that perfect something:

Personalize it
You know your mother better than any website, store clerk, or even blog writer(!).  So get her something that she would like or use.

  • For the practical moms…Is she a huge coffee drinker? I don’t know many who aren’t.  Or maybe she prefers something a bit stronger?  These days you can say just about anything you want with a coffee mug or wine glass.  Wrap that together with a basket of her favorite goodies and you have a thoughtful gift that she can use over and over again!

  • For the moms who love their jewelry…Personalized jewelry can contain more than just a name or birthstone, it can have the potential to incite memories for years to come.  Do you two share a favorite quote or song lyric?  Have it engraved on a necklace or locket.  If she is one of those women who wear a bracelet with a charm for everything, add one to her collection with your wedding date and an “I love you” or “thank you”….

Which leads me to my next point…

Say thank you
Ultimately this gift is a small way to thank your mom.  More than likely she sat through dozens of dress fittings, helped you with your search to find the exact shade of lavender for your invitations, and is contributing a large sum of money to make sure your day is perfect. Perhaps the best way for you to do that would be a spa day for just the two of you; no wedding talk, just relaxing and catching up.

Lastly, don’t forget your mother-to-be
It is very important to also recognize your mother-in-law on this day.  She raised the man of your dreams after all! (Side note: you can get that put on a necklace!)  Same rules apply as above. If you do not know her interests as well as you would like, be sure to consult with your groom; that way you can still give her a personalized gift that she will love.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you
wonderful moms out there!

Behind the Bowtie Thursday: Jazz Up That Suit!

You have read about bridal fashion before, but what about the grooms? They want to be stylish too! Too many people think that it’s just a tux or a suit the same as every other. Personality and style can be portrayed through a bride’s dress, why can’t a suit do the same?

Here are a few ideas to help jazz up a suit to show some personality:

  •  Sporty shoes. Converse, Nikes, who says you have to wear black leather shoes?!
  • Stylish cuff links. Places like Nordstrom Rack have a huge selection of cuff links to fit even the funkiest of styles.

  • A sweet tie! Bowtie or necktie, both can come in not-your-average patterns so you can emphasize your style without sticking out like a sore thumb.

  • Silly socks. Dress socks are no fun! Secretly show off your love for fish or comic book characters with printed socks.

  • Sexy shades. Sunglasses automatically “up” the cool factor of whatever you are wearing!

  • Suspenders. Ditch the jacket and show off those “too-cool for school” suspenders!

  • Undershirts.  Guys are all kids at heart right?? Why not be your very own Clark Kent on your special day with a superhero t-shirt tucked away under your suit!

Let’s Dance: Thinking Out Loud

Who knew that this English lad would be making his way into hundreds of weddings across the United States? We’re referring to the red-headed pop sensation Ed Sheeran, and today we want to highlight the beautiful lyrics to his latest hit “Thinking Out Loud” that has been a popular song choice for our Spring couple’s first and last dances. It is evident that all of his words are very cleverly crafted and that his voice is the very thing dreams are made of, but the real reason he has earned this spotlight is because of the way he perfectly depicts an ageless, lifelong love.

‘Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it’s evergreen
And, baby, your smile’s forever in my mind and memory…
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me – I fall in love with you every single day…

Whether you are 70 or 23, we hope you will find some loving inspiration from the lyrics of this song. Take a break from all of the stress of planning or life and reminisce on the mysterious way you may have fallen in love with your spouse-to-be. You may even find yourself lost in the moment, twirling around the living room while listening to this song! Or maybe if solitary dancing isn’t your style, you might just consider adding it to your reception playlist.

Have a great week, from the Irene Tyndale Events Team!
